About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in SQL and Python to join our client's team for a 3-month onsite contract in Downtown Denver. The ideal candidate will manage critical database environments, leverage Python for automation and data-related tasks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, scalability, and data integrity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for database automation, data transformations, and reporting tasks.
  • Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Write, test, and deploy complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Ensure data integrity, backup strategies, and disaster recovery procedures are in place and functioning.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Provide recommendations for capacity planning and long-term scalability.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later preferred).
  • Proficiency in Python for database automation, data handling, and integration tasks.
  • Proven experience with query optimization, indexing, and database performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Redgate, SolarWinds).
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Downtown Denver.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based SQL solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, data pipelines, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Exposure to Python-based frameworks for data analysis or reporting (e.g., Pandas, SQLAlchemy, or PyODBC).
